Aperçu
The Embassy of Mexico in Vienna serves as Mexico's diplomatic mission to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, representing one of the oldest bilateral relationships in Latin American-European diplomacy. Diplomatic relations between Austria and Mexico were established in July 1842 with a Treaty of Friendship and Commerce. The relationship holds special historical significance: Mexico was the only country to formally protest before the League of Nations against the Anschluss of Austria in March 1938, and subsequently welcomed approximately 1,500 Austrian refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. Today the embassy manages diplomatic, consular, trade, and cultural affairs from its central Vienna location, supported by honorary consulates in Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Krems.Lire plusLire moins
